still on the stereo

Still listening to Jukebox covers 1 + 2 by Cat Power. This has been on my stereo since spring and it still sounds amazing. If you want a covers album that will stand the test of time, ditch Mark Ronson and get this. Jukebox, MGMTs Oracular Spectacular and Raising Sand by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss are my three best albums of the past year. Unfortunately, I missed the live Cat Power show in June, but hopefully there will be another tour soon.

love boots

so in love with these Gucci boots. the leather, the style, the detail, the slightly equestrian but a little bit edgier look. these would look good with absolutely anything.

pole on the air

Check out www.deepfrequency.com to listen to great djs but especially to the very talented James Pole - who has probably the scariest, rariest, and largest record collection you could imagine. Also, he did me a very nice drawing once upon a time. Looking forward to his next show on the 18th November.

i want i want i want

I always admired Alexander McQueen's designs but they were just for that - admiring from afar. However, this season he has some styles that I could actually see myself wearing. These are from net-a-porter, loving the purple dress, the arrow print is really great as it just gives the right amount of edge to the otherwise feminine style. I am not a girly girl but I like wearing dresses so this is the perfect combination. The pink kimono is stunning. Apparently this is a dress, but you would have to be pretty daring to wear it without some great trousers underneath. If this kimono had a soundtrack it would be David Bowie.

cyclechic

I'd really like a new bike for Christmas this year, my existing bike is looking a bit tired and my eye has been taken with some lovely bikes from Denmark and Holland. All I want is something comfortable to ride, nice to look at and with plenty of carrying space for shopping/picnics and parcels. I do keep a Top 10 of bikes but here are my current top 3 for you stylespotters!

stencil nation

These photos were taken in Riga, Latvia. Some of the coolest stencil graffiti I have ever seen was in Riga. Even better than Stockholm. I much prefer these stencils to the work of the likes of Banksy - his work seems more thought out and to be honest, I've had enough of looking at his efforts over the past couple of years. These stencils from Riga are much more spontaneous and fun.

day one!

This is my first day of blogging. This blog will bring you great style spots and product finds from all over the place.

I'm a designer and product developer, working mainly in home accessories products for the UK retail market. As part of my research for work I like to keep on track with trends in fashion, music and just interesting bits and pieces that make life more colourful. So, this blog is about sharing this with you!

Last weekend I helped on a photo shoot for a new band called Ten Bears. They have done the title music for the Orange Unsigned Act 2008 on T4. During the shoot for their press photo we got to pour paint all over the guys - great for us but bad for them as the temperature was freezing! As you can see above, the photo came out great and fits in really nicely with the artwork I have been doing for their current tour. Check out their song Dirt on the Radio... and see them on tour soon.
